Visit Britain 4 Stars Bed & Breakfast

Southdown is a modern detached house set in a large garden in the hamlet of Roundway Village, a mile from the historic market town of Devizes. We are rated 4 star silver & hold Walkers & Cyclists Welcome, Enjoy England & Visit Wiltshire breakfast awards.

A footpath running alongside the house leads to the Kennet & Avon Canal and the attractions and facilities of Devizes. A short walk in the other direction takes you up onto Roundway Down on the edge of the North Wessex Downs AONB. Here you can find the Devizes Millennium White Horse (one of 8 horses cut into the Wiltshire Downs), the site of the Battle of Roundway (1643) and Oliver’s Castle hillfort. Being situated in the centre of the county, this is a perfect location for touring the whole of the county with its wonderful towns, villages and ancient sites, eg: Avebury, Stonehenge, Lacock, Salisbury, Castle Combe, Bath etc.

Whether you are touring, walking, cycling or on business, you are assured of a very warm welcome and a comfortable stay. We have three guest bedrooms: two doubles with en-suite facilities and a twin with a private bathroom. There is a guest lounge containing local information, books and maps, etc, and a gallery with photos of the area, drinks facilities and a guest computer. We have wi-fi if you wish to bring a laptop.

Our renowned breakfast is served in the conservatory or dining room, depending on the time of year. Both overlook the back garden. Guests are welcome to use the garden.

Very popular with walkers, Southdown is on the Wessex Ridgeway, White Horse Trail and Mid-Wilts Way and is only 9 miles from the start/finish point of The Ridgeway National Trail. Guests are welcome to borrow our walking maps, directions and books and we are happy to suggest walks.

Please note that even if you can't see the combination of rooms and dates you want online, we may still be able to meet your accommodation needs as many guests are flexible as to their room requirements. so please call to check.
