The location, a nice standard to the hotel even though it was dated. The food stole the show though. Absolutely amazing. We had 3 courses and completely full at the end but worth it - excellent!
Dislikes:
Being an old hotel you would expect noises but being on the top floor meant the whole room would shake when a door below was shut/slammed. Fortunately this did not present a problem when sleeping!

We requested a twin beeded room, and this was confirmed as the gable room. But we were given a room with a double bed, which was not what we requested.
Response from Orestone Manor Hotel:
Thank you for your rewiew and I am glad you enjoyed the food. I am sorry your bedroom was not twinned - this room had zip and link matresses and should have been twinned by the housekeeper. Had we been aware of this mistake we would have instantly remedied the bed for you.

Friendliness of staff, wonderful breakfast and lovely cosy atmosphere when we arrived later on Saturday evening. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were so friendly and helpful.
Dislikes:
Our room was perhaps a little tired (although that is being quite petty) we only had a corner bath without a proper shower and we are both quite tall.

"We had a wonderfully relaxing overnight stay"
Arrived welcomed and helped with luggage. Settled into the room and relaxed before going down for a pre dinner drink on a comfortable couch next to the log fire in the lounge area. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent. Coffee and nightcap back in the lounge entertained by the manager with local stories. A leisurely breakfast in the balcony room which opened out to a lovely view of the gardens and sea. Read less

The hotel was comfortable, friendly but also professional. The lounge bar and balcony areas facing out to the sea were great. As a vegetarian I especially appreciated the special no meat menu.

Location very good, quiet and peaceful. Service very good and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
Dislikes:
We stayed on the 2nd floor, which was a challenge for my father who has mobility problems. The room was adequate but on the small side, although the roof terrace accessible from both rooms was a bonus

"Late summer break in an area not visited since childhood and chance of better weather"
A relaxing 4 night midweek stay. Went out and about sightseeing during the day, up on to Dartmoor one day and as far as Dartmouth to the west and Exeter to the east, stopping at many attractions and places for a coffee or a meal along the way. Enjoyed our day up on Dartmoor stopping at Princetown to look at the prison and Buckfast Abbey - amazing buildings, what a contrast. Enjoyed Brixham even in the drizzle! At the end of each day Orestone was a luxurious and relaxing place to come back to. Read less

Orestone was exactly what we hope it would be. Great character, in a beautiful quiet spot with lovely views of the sea. We had a fabulous room, excellent breakfasts, superb dinners, friendly staff.
Dislikes:
The larger seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay looked tired and run down. We loved Brixham however and there are some beautiful quiet coves with stunning beaches. Totnes is a gem and Exeter fabulous
Response from Orestone Manor Hotel:
Thank you for your review, we are all pleased your expectations were fulfilled. We are lucky to be in an area of such beauty and diversity. There are some charming towns and villages around us and I take your point about Paignton being a little run down. Torquay is in need of work to the upper town centre, However improvements are happening.Torquay has had money spent around the harbour and frontage with ongoing works behind the main beach and buildings along the front.
From the team, Orestone
