Was expecting something special, but what a disappointment.Complained on arrival about tatty room, but nothing else available.Gloomy, dusty sale room feel about it.Bathroom cheap, showerhead only over bath(did not work)complained about this, but told 'we know it does not work, you should have been told to use bath only' so hairwash in small sink!! Handmade plywood wardrobe &doors like cheap B&B. Lumpy bed-but clean!
Flashing smoke alarm over bed-so take your sleepshades! Read less

Location overlooking sea, walks straight into Exmoor Park.
Quiet location, hotel quiet
Dining area beautiful, food good.
Free carparking.
Dislikes:
As above- room and facilities in room very poor.
Staff mainly friendly, but some not particularly helpful.
Unlit staircase and very dark carpet recipe for accident.

"By and large o.k., but the price"
The hotel has a nice atmosphere with all the antiques and bibelots. Our room was rather small with small en-suite. The furniture were mainly antiques or looked like it, but this was also the "problem": chairs worn out from use, table shaky. The bathroom would need a renovation and the carpet was stained. It is not that the room was bad, the cleanliness e.g. was o.k., but I'd rate it rather a good average - esp. when I consider the price. I wouldn't necessarily recommend to stay here. Read less

Had spent one night here in March and were greeted like old friends. Comfortable & excellent attentive service without feeling suffocated by the staff. Lovely setting & fun if you like books/antiques.

Location was excellent. View from room, 12, front of hotel overlooking the small harbour and sea. Hotel manager very friendly. Millers rooms are full of books, antiques, sofas, clutter in a good way.
Dislikes:
Paid for room/dinner - not asked for time. On arrival, after my enquiry, told that earliest dinner would be at 8.15. At 8.55 sat down. Staff clearing/setting tables still had dessert to go! Not good.

"Luxurious hideaway lost in time!"
This charming hotel oozes character and is beautifully appointed from floor to ceiling with fine furnishings, antiques and books in and comfortable old fashioned style. The atmosphere and friendly staff offer a reclusion away from the busy daytime activity of visitors to Porlock Weir while you can relax in the drawing room overlooking the harbour or take refreshments on the harbourside restaurant/bar. I left wanting more! Read less

The Duty Manager Marie was a really nice person, very friendly, customer oriented and competent. She is to be complimented - such people are 'gold dust' to experienced travellers like myself
Dislikes:
It took a while for hot water to come through the shower - lots if water wasted.
