We stayed for a couple of nights near the Easter weekend. The weather was lovely so we did a lot of walking over the moors and around the coast. Beautiful. We chose the hotel in case the weather was awful and we needed to hunker down. Read less

We loved the location and the staff were excellent and friendly as well as helpful. The ambiance of the hotel is excellent. Complex common rooms full of interesting things to look at. Breakfast superb
Dislikes:
If the weather has been awful the common space would not have been enough and the room itself was not big enough or light enough for sitting, reading, etc.

Location superb, 10 yards to beach, so warm, comfortable, instantly relaxing, open fires, candlight, fascinating 'decor'. Delightful post-colonial, not-quite-as-wealthy-as-we-were, country house feel
Dislikes:
I loved it, but if you like modern, chic, minimalist gloss, don't bother going here.

Loved the comfortable lounge with the antiques and real fire- great to relax with a drink.
Dislikes:
A clock radio would have been useful in the bedroom.

Could have stayed forever examining the arrifacts and antiques. Friendly staff made us welcome and gave good advice for our journey.
Dislikes:
We had great difficulty in getting to the Hotel due to the road having been closed. We know the Hotel were aware of this and could have phone us to give advice.

Everything! The room was great with a very accessible ensuite bathroom, the position of the Hotel was great, the food was very good and the staff were very kind and attentive.
Dislikes:
I really feel there should be much better lighting on the stairs! I understand that the very dark blue carpeting is all part of the 'ambience' but it's a very fine balance - and a risky one!

"Pure autumnal pleasure."
A last minute overnight break to Porlock and Millers which we know and love. The pleasure of walking through the woods and then curling up on the squashy sofas by the fire grazing on sweeties, looking out at the sea getting slightly inebriated on cider and browsing the books. The pleasure of a relaxed evening meal without the drive and then falling asleep to a film. The Hotel decor is everything I wish my house could be and the young staff are so genuinely friendly and engaging. Read less

The staff:always welcoming. The maximalist decor and the scuffs on the paintwork.Securing the prolapsed sofas next to the fire, reading and drinking Burrow Hill cider. Woodland walk to Culbone Church

The staff headed by Maria were excellent - no request was overlooked or indeed too small. Definitely service with a passion and a smile.
Dislikes:
I was not treated the same as the other 5 members of our birthday party as I did not receive the 3 nights for the price of 2 offer.
