We had a wonderful mini break. Something to assail the senses at every glance and nothing better at the end of the day than to curl up on a squashy sofa in front of the fire with a good book. The weather was murky and misty and we had beautiful walks through the woods. The food was beautiful, service excellent and we look forward to returning in the future. Read less

Our room was room 9 the garden view but didn't really have a view of anything, but that didn't bother us. Room was small and decorated nicely but the carpet was very old and grubby. Bathroom ok and basic but no shower. There was a shower head but no water pressure. Read less

The hotel is a one-off, stuffed full of antiques and collectables - it's a little bit odd (but in a good way). The staff are lovely - always smiling, polite and helpful.
Dislikes:
The bits and bobs that form part of the decor are dust traps and the place was not always as clean as it might have been.

Really friendly staff, amazing location, truly excellent food.
Dislikes:
The bathroom was not really up to the standard of the rest of the hotel - the decor was very plain and not in very good condition, and the shower attachment didn't work.

The welcome and friendly service was beyond excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect. The walking is great.
Dislikes:
The menu is obviously limited - after two days we felt we had exhausted the possibilities. The food was good but not outstanding - but it really wasn't a problem

Dislikes:
The cups didn't match the saucers in our room so made them quite wobbly to use. Their wasn't a pen so I couldn't fill in the feedback form in the room. I think a matress topper would have been nice.
