Lovely room with quality linen and towels.
Good real ale.
Great breakfast.
Beautiful old pub.
Handy, quiet location.

We loved the English experience, the quality of the food was good and the drinks on offer were fantastic. There was a great connection with the local airfield and also lots of RAF history on the walls
Dislikes:
One thing that would have been useful would have been an iron and ironing board.

Easy to find and park, beautiful room, friendly staff, superb fish risotto, comfortable bed, warm room, lovely bathroom, perfect English breakfast, friendly staff - lovely old English pub. Excellent !

We looked at basic to posh hotels and decided somewhere in the middle was more our cup of tea. The John Barleycorn is a 17th Century thatched pub that is very appealing inside and out. The rooms are not in the pub but are in a separate block outside the back. They are chalet-like with a bedroom and bathroom. The rooms are Oldie worldie so if you want ultra modern it's not for you. If you find thatched cottages appealing you will probably be happy with the accommodation, good base for sightseeing Read less

Staff are first class. Breakfast was excellent. Great range of beers. Food served in the restaurant was also very good and well worth the price.
Dislikes:
Our room (no. 1) had a wet room which personally I'm not keen on as everything in there gets soaked but shower was powerful and the towels were soft and fluffy. Loo seat was missing.
