Great Tew is an ancient Oxfordshire village located 5 miles east of Chipping Norton on the slopes of a limestone ridge overlooking the Worton Valley. Regularly described as one of the most beautiful villages in England, it is also one of the most interesting. Already a substantial settlement at the time of the Domesday Book, it had a notable role to play in both the civil war and the industrial revolution. In recent years many of the 17th century cottages have been sympathetically restored.
