We enjoyed the quality of the meals served. The house white wine I ordered was really nice. The bar area was cosy and homely. We had a pleasant view from our bedroom.
Dislikes:
We had 2 single beds which were too narrow and the springs in the mattress where felt with every move. We slept very poorly which spoiled the relaxation part of our mini break.

The room was clean, quiet and a good size. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot & powerful.
Dislikes:
Unfortunately only a very limited (bar) menu was available in the evening.

We stayed for 4 nights and were happy with our room. The owners and staff were welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts were very good, with every effort being made to provide us with what we wanted. We ate in the restaurant in the evenings, and the food was excellent. The inn is full of character, with a welcoming log fire in the bar.It isn't an hotel, so daily room service is not provided unless requested, but this is no problem. Read less

The quality of the food has to be the main plus for this inn. The staff are hardworking and friendly. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with lots of footpaths leading to other quiet villages.
Dislikes:
The bedrooms are above the bar so it can be noisy. However it didn't bother us as we had been warned before hand.

Dont know kent and we have never visited cantebury .. loved it .. the pub looked good on the website but what a suprise ..a warm welcome from the barmaid / waitress nothing too much trouble .. all night . delicious reasonably priced food.. chillled by the fire played board games and drank a bottle of wine .. just what he doctor ordered !! would recommenfd this wonderful bolt hole .. totally !! not really .. some may find it noisy as you can hear what is goign on downstairs but it didnt bother us it was fab !!

The people were so friendly and very helpful, could not find anything negative to say about this. The service and quality of the food was some of the best we have had whilst staying in a pub. We were made to feel very welcome. The open fire was going in the morning for breakfast and right through into the evening so the place was lovely and warm.
Dislikes:
If I had to find anything negative I would say the rooms can be a little noisy from the bar below but it would not stop me staying again.

The oldiy worldy atmosphere with a roaring log fire made a pleasant change.
Dislikes:
Bedrooms could do with redecorating and a carpenter to rehang doors, in order that they fit properly, as ours was very difficult to open and close (swollen).

Having read all the good reviews thought would be lovely for 2 night stay to visit Canterbury and surrounding places of interest. Unfortunately was very disappointed, room was very noisy from music and people in bar. Room wasn't cleaned after our first night, no clean towels for second day and still had same cups from the first day, no milk, tea etc for second day and shower products. We were the only guests on the second night, staff locked up and we were left on our own all night. Read less
