We were very surprised that when we checked in around 4.00 PM, the hotel had absolutely no record of our booking despite the fact it was booked and confirmed on 14 March 2013. The hotel luckily did have availability but tried to put us in a twin on the top floor but this would not have been acceptable as there is no lift and my husband is currently suffering with cracked ribs. However, after some negotiation, we were put in a nice double room on the first floor. Read less

We are sorry that there was a mix up of some sort with the booking date. It was booked online on the correct date and then for some reason the booking was moved to a different date. After extensive checking we are still not absolutely sure why but as we had a number of bookings around that date with the same surname, we think the wrong booking was moved. Again our apologies but we were delighted that we were still able to accommodate you.

The food (steaks) were particularly amazing - one of the best I have had! The staff are very friendly both early in the morning and late at night. The breakfasts are also superb!
Dislikes:
1. Phone signal is very poor
2. Internet can be exceptionally slow to the point of unusable.
3. Parking outside the hotel can be difficult if the hotel is busy.

Many thanks for complimenting both our food and staff. Great local produce from this beautiful area is a real bonus - we'll pass on your comments to those who looked after you. Montgomery is overlooked by its castle ruins - the hill does block some mobile signals but then every room has a direct dial phone and our system allows inward dialing to each room too. Sorry - broadband in rural areas can be a bit patchy you must have hit a slow time. There is a large free car park at the rear too.

The room was cosy in the beautiful historic hotel.
The restaurant has very high quality cuisine that I have found in very few other places.
The dragon hotel has a lovely sauna as well.
Dislikes:
The wifi connection for free tends to be a bit slow and unstable hoch didn't make my work easy.

Thank you for taking the trouble to review The Dragon and your kind comments. We are currently working on ways to improve the WiFi. It is good in the public areas and most bedrooms but with 7 foot thick stone walls in places, it is a challenge but we believe we may have found the answer.
