Tavistock is a charming market town, set on the River Tavy. There are riverside walks and a trout fishery, interesting architecture, swimming pool and tennis courts and a wealth of shops and restaurants. The town is famous for it's covered Pannier Market, first held 1105. There is a 15thC parish church near 12thC ruins of Benedictine Abbey. Based 15 miles from the city of Plymouth and approximately 30 minutes from both coasts. A stones throw from the mysterious delights of Dartmoor.
