I love the feel of the age of the property steeped in history with its roaring fires.
Dislikes:
Waiting staff need to adopt a more customer focussed approach. Served at breakfast by a staff member who appeared unable to engage in any kind of covnerstaion other than to convey the breakfast menu.

great atmosphere and character in the hotel, loved the four poster bed, enjoyed having rye on the doorstep.
Dislikes:
we would have liked a wider variety of dishes on the bar and resteraunt menus and a wider range of complementry drinks in the room eg hot chocolate and horlicks and more than two normal coffees.

Friendly and helpful staff. Able to get a drink after midnight when we returned from our event. Very comfortable bed. Lovely atmosphere.
Dislikes:
No curtain/blind at our bathroom window which overlooked the lounge room next to the bar. A towel was hung up temporarily by staff

Breakfast menu offered a good choice but the quality was adequate. Unfortunately the bed was like a board which doesn't suit those of us with bad backs. A wonderful building full of character which is I guess is why it was expensive, not value for money by other accounts. Read less

We enjoyed the central location of the hotel and the 'quaintness' of the historic building. It was also useful to be able to park on site which is a rarity in Rye. Staff were friendly.
Dislikes:
We did not appreciate the night time disturbance from wedding guests until 02:45. Talking loudly in the building and corridors, showing little consideration for other guests.

The building itself is fascinating, the staff friendly and accommodating and the evening meal one of the best I have had recently in the UK
Dislikes:
The room (7) was far too hot and, very surprisingly, there were no blinds/curtains in the bathroom. Somewhat disconcerting! The overall price, given the above, was probably excessive.

Great central location, staff were friendly and helpful.
Dislikes:
Bathroom not up to modern day standards, no stand up showering facility was, we believe, not acceptable. Had to crawl on our knees to plug the hairdryer in - not good.

Dinner was wonderful, excellent food in beautiful, unhurried atmosphere. Enjoyed experience of exploring this fascinating building and its history. Sleeping in a four poster bed was a unique event.
Dislikes:
Stay was spoilt by a poor breakfast buffet - no butter, no OJ, insufficient hot milk for coffee, tired fruit bowl, only single slice of bread given. Cooked food was very good.
