Everything. Love the magic and character of the place. Love the open fires - the smell is beautiful, we especially love the Mermaid at this time of year, it really makes you feel festive.

We were staying overnight for a friend's birthday party. We liked the charm of the hotel immediately, but were disappointed by the size of our room (pokey) and it's facilities. The guy who showed us the room said "Oh you are on the cold side of the hotel", and we were. The radiator helped, but made it too hot on one side, and we couldn't draw the curtains properly. That all said, it is a gorgeous place, and full of warmth of a different kind. Our breakfast was great and the experience very good. Read less

The historic nature of the hotel, the higgledepiggle-dy ness, and the charm. Breakfast was lovely.
Dislikes:
overpriced not for the experience, but for the size and quality of the room which was disappointing. No wi fi.

Independently owned and standard of food remains good with a varied menu. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Dislikes:
Bring back the real fires in the lounge areas

The breakfast was excellent. Location of room was perfect.The character and ambience of the hotel is superb.
Dislikes:
As regular visitors of the mermaid we were disappointed not to be able to use lounge area as was booked for private party-would like to have been informed at time of booking.No newspaper was offered.
