Rose & Crown is a lovely old Inn nestled in the small town of Elham in the middle of East Kent's stunning countryside. David (the manager) was very friendly and welcoming and made our stay a great experience. The fireplaces in the bar and restaurant areas created a cosy and warm atmosphere. The food was good. The room was lovely and big and clean. Read less

** Valentines SPECIAL OFFER ** Enjoy a two night stay in one of our double rooms; offer includes Champagne on arrival, dinner and a bottle of wine on both nights.

Nestling in the heart of the inspiring Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty, the historic village of Elham is truly one of the most picturesque in East Kent.

Elham’s 43 listed buildings illustrate a long history, from the late medieval Church of St. Mary and fine timber-framed houses of Tudor times, to the former coaching inn of the Rose & Crown. And whilst Charles II may not have hidden in the chimney at the Abbots Fireside Hotel, there is plenty of fascinating history to be uncovered on a short walk around the village.

Sited halfway along the meandering valley that bears its name, Elham has become rightfully known as a haven for walking. The rolling hills and open fields provide a fantastic selection of both circular and linear routes for all abilities. The well-marked paths wind through unspoilt villages, ancient woodland, pastures and chalk grassland, allowing stunning views across the valley.

The pub lies in the heart of the beautiful Elham Valley, a chalk valley in the North Downs of East Kent and provides a well-earned resting point for those wanting to attempt the 22-mile Elham Valley Way. The Elham Valley provides an idyllic setting for walking and cycling, whilst nearby Folkestone (5 miles/8 km) offers a beautiful harbour and cliff walks.
