We really enjoyed our stay at Dilston Mill; it is a beautiful location and easily accessible. The owner was friendly and extremely helpful, giving us good advice about days out and places to eat. The self-service breakfast allowed us to take our time and eat when we felt like it - not to a schedule! From this location we found lots of things to do as a family and there are some lovely places to eat in the town. Read less

I really liked the private breakfast room where we could sit as a family and eat, talk and relax. The whole atmosphere of the place was relaxing and friendly. I also liked the self-service breakfast.

This unspoiled and uncrowded area is one of England's best kept secrets and the Mill has been a witness to its dramatic and colourful history back to the Middle Ages with links further back to Roman and Anglo-Saxon times.
Dilston Mill is in a secluded but convenient position. It is only one mile from Corbridge and two from Hexham. These charming and historic towns with Roman remains and ancient churches also offer excellent dining and other amenities, including a theatre, cinema, swimming pool and country park. Dilston Mill is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a rich heritage from the Romans of Hadrian’s Wall to medieval castles, bastles and pele towers of the untamed 17th century Reivers and classic country houses and gardens.
Dilston Mill’s location and atmosphere provide a special experience: a slow bed and breakfast with peace, quiet and low key use of resources. Dilston Mill has been in tune with current ‘Green’ practices long before they became popularly promoted. The Mill is located on a public footpath, linking to local countryside walks. Close to the bus and train as well, you also have the option of going out and about while leaving the car behind.
The Mill is also close to all modern sporting (golf, fishing, watersports, pony trekking, cycling, walking) and leisure amenities and the vibrant entertainments, nightlife and shopping of Newcastle, Gateshead and the Metrocentre. In addition, the world heritage site of Durham Cathedral and Castle, Beamish outdoor museum, Kielder lake, coastal beaches, hills, moorland and the Scottish borders are all within easy reach on modern, often uncrowded, roads. And if you venture off the main roads, you will probably have the place to yourself!
