This is not a hotle it is a restaurant with rooms. The owners do not live on site so there is now "reception". The rooms are excellent - lovely comfy beds with en suite - the shower was fabulous although we did have a problem with a lack of hot water and had to wait for a while for it to reheat. The food in the restaurant was excellent but served a little too quickly for us - we like a short break between courses. The breakfast in the morning was great - not too big and overfacing. The food was fabulous. The service was great and the staff very friendly. We loved being able to stay over after the meal which meant we could both have a drink without worrying about getting home.
Dislikes:
The fact that we weren't asked when we booked what time we would want to dine. We ended up dining at 7.00pm - too early for us (or we could have had 9.00pm - too late)

"Fantastic food let down by poor waiting staff"
The room and food were lovely, well priced and I would recommend to my friends. The dinning experience however was hurried and armature. Waiting staff had little or no knowledge of the food, wine or even basic waiting etiquette. Such a shame this lovely restaurant was let down by its table staff. Read less

The Olive Branch is one of the areas most exciting restaurants, we offer a country pub feel with award winning food in a relaxed, family atomsphere. Lying to the west of Huddersfield, the Colne Valley has much to explore, including a number of stone built villages and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal which flows through the valley bottom. Sitting at the head of the valley Marsden is a very popular location for visitors where you can wander alongside the water's edge and retrace ancient packhorse trails. But, don't be fooled, this is a thoroughly modern village, where contemporary arts and crafts site perfectly alongside country ales and village stores.
