Ideally placed in the centre of the village, fantastic views from our room, excellent breakfasts and friendly.
Dislikes:
Having to get up earlier for breakfast both mornings due to it being full. Would have liked to have been given a later time on 1 of the days.

With magnificent views of the historic Priory and dramatic coastline, Martineau is the perfect location for a relaxing break, while also being the ideal base for exploring the many attractions of the North-East. Less than 5 minutes to the beach!
Martineau House takes its name from Harriet Martineau, one of the great social reformers of the 19th century and an important local figure. Harriet lived in the house for almost seven years during the 1840s and wrote many of her most important works here.
All our rooms are ensuite and well equipped. Start the day with choices from our comprehensive breakfast menu, served in our open plan kitchen overlooking the secret garden and featuring the best of traditional local produce lovingly prepared. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives can be prepared on request. There is free wifi and on street parking for guests.
Conveniently located for local transport, Martineau Guesthouse is an ideal base for exploring the coastline and countryside of Northumbria, or the shopping opportunities of Newcastle's Eldon Square and Gateshead's famous Metro Centre. Tynemouth itself has a range of local craft and coffee shops. A five-minute walk will take you to the antiques curios at Tynemouth Metro Station or the Land of the Green Ginger.
Martineau House has achieved a silver award and 4 star rating by the english tourist council, and was awarded North Tyneside Bed & Breakfast of the Year, and a pride of Northumbria special award and is recommeded in the Michelin guide.
