"A pleasant stay"
A pleasant bed and breakfast. Greeted on arrival. Had a double room booked but as sharing with my teenage daughter was offered a twin room at no extra charge. Tea and coffee making facilities very welcome. Slept fairly well but felt the mattress could do with replacing. Breakfast was very nice. All in all a pleasant stay. Would stay here again. Read less

The lamplighter is only minutes from the railway and coach stations and 850 yards from the ferry terminal. We have ensured that the 9 bedrooms are of the highest standard, with 7 rooms fully en-suite and 2 with private facilities. As the regional capital of Devon and Cornwall Plymouth has something to offer all year round for all the family. It is a unique blend of vibrant city with an historic seafaring port. You can visit world famous heritage sites such as Plymouth Hoe and the Mayflower Steps. Alternatively you can take to the sea yourself in a variety of ways. Boat trips, fishing, windsurfing, scuba diving and water skiing are all available. Continuing the maritime theme, the superb Plymouth Aquarium offers a unique sea-world experience.
Within Plymouth city centre you can shop to your heart's content in the shopping boulevards and precincts, a thoroughly modern experience however if you seek 'olde worlde ' Plymouth then wander to the Barbican where you will discover antique shops, art and craft galleries and bistros which invite you to sit and watch the world pass by. Relax amidst the hustle and bustle of the harbour and enjoy the stunning views. Plymouth is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in England. Cornwall to the west, Dartmoor to the north and the South Hams to the east.
