We had a truly wonderful stay at Highfield House. The owner, Caroline, as the perfect host, and her attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the house, our room and the welcome we received. The house is stunning, beautifully appointed and managed to be both exquisitely grand whilst cosy and homely. The grounds were ideal for a short bracing walk to whet our appetites for our evening meal at The Feathers (also recommended a few miles away). We had such a lovely stay and hope to return! Read less

Loved the little touches, such as chocolates on our pillows, superb teas & coffee, yummy cake, fresh fruit, fluffy dressing gowns, Molten Brown in the bathroom and an amazing Northumbrian breakfast!

Highfield House and Cottage are found a mile from Whittonstall village and only two miles from the northern edge of Derwent Reservoir, set within the beautiful Pennine valley on the Northumberland and Durham border.
Owner, Caroline Zuch, offers a warm welcome to guests staying in this warm and wonderful family home, alongside her husband Martin, their three children and cat, Basil. Caroline is committed to providing friendly, unobtrusive and excellent service, keeping an eye on the small details, to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
