Description
Whilst enjoying a day out or taking a short break in Northumberland, you will be captivated by the charming village of Simonburn and the surrounding countryside.
The delights of the Tearoom, Craft Shop and garden are matched only by the warm welcome and personal attention from Ann and her staff. The Tearoom and Shop also offer the services of a rural Post Office and provide a range of local produce for sale.
A stroll through the village brings you to St Mungo’s 13th Century Church, historically known as the Mother Church of the North Tyne Valley. You may even recognise some of the picturesque village green and surrounding houses that were used in the making of several of the Catherine Cookson films!
Simonburn boasts an idyllic rural location but is still within 30 minutes of the Metro Centre at Gateshead – rural escape and retail therapy in one day. Hadrian’s Wall is a comfortable two and a half miles walk from Simonburn.
The National Byway Loop Cycle Route that uses Hexham as its base, is a 23 mile round trip easily achievable in one day and includes Simonburn in its sign-posted route.
