A great little hotel which, I would recommend and would stay at again. We stayed two nights and were upgraded to a superior room which was one of the largest and best equipped I have experienced. The quality and style of the fixtures and fittings was first class. I was particularly pleased with the attention to detail and the large number of nice touches such as proper soap and biscuits with the tea. The only disappointment was the restaurant. Read less

Dislikes:
In the restaurant the setting and paraphernalia were of a high standard but the quality of the food was very substandard. This applied to at least one starter and to both main courses.

One night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Dinner was hugely disappointing, much made on website of home reared pork but none on the menu. Overcooked tough steak and 5 chips and the tomato and goats cheese tart was in such brittle pastry it shot across the table when I tried to eat it. The meal was very expensive. The downstairs garden room was not the deluxe room we were expecting and its close proximity to the chicken, geese and ducks was a let down as we were woken by crowing at dawn. Read less

The staff were efficient and friendly, our room was superb, and our food was excellent. The whole atmosphere was genial and warm - and we loved the gardens and location in a pretty village.
Dislikes:
Our bathroom was a problem with steaming up! Also, the bedside tables and lamps were not suitable for reading in bed.

Such a large comfortable room catering for everything you need on an overnight stay which some hotels do seem to miss only catering well for those who are staying for a longer break. Food was fab.

I am so sorry to hear of this incident. I was away during the week. Elaine was our Duty Manager on both evenings and she was taking care of you in the Restaurant. You are quite right to expect the food to arrive as described on the menu and I am truly sorry for this shortcvoming. We are very proud of the quality of our apple fed, orchard reared pork. It is of the highest quality. I hope that the fact that you were not charged went some way to compensate for your disapointment

Husband had a business meeting and this was an ideal location for him to get to the meeting. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, our room was pretty and cosy with everything we needed for an overnight stay. We enjoyed having a drink before dinner in the lounge, We chose the sirloin steak for dinner from the menu and was excellent. Read less
