Description

The Saffron Hotel offers 16 individually decorated en suite rooms, all comfortably furnished. All rooms are well equipped with a television with freeview, a hair dryer, ironing facilities and tea/coffee making equipment. We also offer room service.

The Restaurant is also open to non-residents and offers a full english breakfast, light bite lunch menu, a Table de Hote menu and black board specials. A discount is offered to Residents on the Table de Hote menu. We also offer a children's menu. ***Please note, breakfast and all other menus are not included in the room tariff***

Saffron Walden takes the second part of its name from the threatening fortification of Walden Castle, erected by the Normans after the Conquest, and the first from the rare and precious saffron crocus, for which the town became famous.

Saffron Walden itself is an unspoilt country town, with narrow streets and old buildings, many of them 'pargeted'. The town's specialist shops are well worth exploring. Audley End, England's largest Jacobean mansion, is on the doorstep, and the beautiful university town of Cambridge is just 12 miles away. The Imperial War Museum at Duxford and the racing town of Newmarket are also within driving distance.
