Bampton in mid Devon lies close to the Somerset border, and is on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. For the visitor, it is ideally situated for road (M5) and rail links (Tiverton Parkway) and is at the centre of an area where there is much to do and explore. Heron House is in the centre of Bampton within the conservation area and with marvellous views to the rear overlooking the garden and then up to the forested hills beyond.

Exmoor National Park in the perfect place for riding – hacking, trekking, or hunting. Within the National Park boundaries are some 400 miles (600kms) of bridleways. There a number of famous high bird shoots and syndicated Farmers shoots close to Dulverton, where days can be purchased including: Miltons, Chargot, Haddeo, West Molland, Molland & Wellshead.
