Description

Self Assessed 3 Stars Guest House

Wake every morning to the call of the Gull and the chattering of the rooks, get away from the stress a of every-day life, enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful 300-year old traditional Cornish House. Set high behind Mullion Cliffs in the quiet hamlet of Predannack just one and a half miles from Mullion Village (1mile if you walk!) and 1/2 a mile from the pretty harbour of Mullion Cove. Caunce Head is the hideaway you are looking for.

Enjoy the spectacular scenery on the costal paths, and be surrounded by beautiful countryside and a National Nature Reserve cared for by English Nature, all this is on the doorstep, no need to move the car! The Lizard Peninsula is a truly unspoilet corner of Cornwall.

The rugged coastline, dotted with tiny fishing villages and perfect sandy coves, is broken by deeply wooded valleys and the secret splendour of the Helford River - made famous by Daphne du Maurier in the novel "Frenchman`s Creek". It is minutes away by car and easily accessible to walkers.

Nationally recognised for rare Fauna and Flora, the area is perfect at any time of the year. Caunce Head is the ideal base from which to explore, for those who bring a well behaved dog we will look after it for the day while you go to the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Helligan, consider an early booking and discover some of the truly magnificent Gardens of Cornwall, or expericence the pagan ritual of Flora Day, the welcoming of Spring in Helston(made famous by Terry Wogan!).

Caunce Head is steeped in History from once being a mine captains house to being owned by a member of the Bloomsbury Set and a Hungarian artist, the house was also used by Sherlock Holmes for the setting of his short story 'The Devils Foot' being the house nearest the celtic cross.

Come and experience all that is good about Cornwall, in this little oasis of charm, characture and happiness.
