Burn View is a small, family-run Bed and Breakfast in the Derwent Valley, Gateshead. We aim to make you feel welcome and relaxed during your stay. We overlook beautiful countryside and the Derwent Walk and C2C cycle ride is immediately outside our front door, making us the ideal location for both serious walkers/cyclists and those who simply enjoy a pleasant morning or evening stroll.
Despite our rural outlook, we are just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Rowlands Gill which offers a wide range of facilities and amenities. We are located 4 miles off the A1 and within 7 miles of Newcastle/Gateshead with the ancient city of Durham less than 18 miles away. So, whether you’re looking for a countryside holiday, a city break or a centre for exploring the North-East we are ideally situated. We’re always happy to offer information on the area and share local knowledge with our visitors, if they choose. Burn View is a comfortable Edwardian family house that has been tastefully renovated to retain many original features.
We greet our guests with a cup of tea or coffee and homemade fruit loaf (best eaten thickly spread with butter!). We can offer you exclusive service for your stay as we have only one bedroom and you won’t find yourself sharing the dining room. We are, as you will have gathered, a fairly informal household but we offer a high quality service.

Environmental Statement
We aim to operate our business in a way which respects our environment and conserves it for future generations to enjoy. Whenever possible we use products which are environmentally friendly. Our breakfasts are made from organic and locally sourced produce, including locally made Northumbrian sausages and home-cured bacon using meat from local farms, free range eggs from field-kept special breed hens, home-made bread and tea loaf. We ask guest to place used towels in the bath when they require clean towels thus reducing the need to replace towels every day. We work closely with a Litter Awareness project and encourage our younger guests to sign a litter pledge to ensure they act responsibility to keep the Derwent Walk and surrounding countryside free from their litter.
