Cosy facilities, warm rooms and loads of hot water. Personal attention, quiet and restful but with plenty of character both from the locals and the town itself.

The atmosphere was friendly. They haven't spoilt that feeling of being somewhere with a long history by modernising without thought to preserving that even though all the facilities are there.

Room cleaning was not adequate ( e.g. towels left on floor - no attempt to clean the bathroom

The first room I was offered had a very squeeky bed and was not of great quality. Everytime you moved on the bed it squeeked. I requested another room and was immediately given a much better room. Although I wasn't advised at the time of an additional charge of ten pounds for a quiet bed! I was there for a funeral and the staff couldn't have done more for us. They were outstanding. They organised us taxis, they offered a buffet for our return after restaurant closed. The service was brilliant! Read less

I loved the fact that it had a little pool. It had tea pots! I love tea. It was quirky and quaint and I would definitely come back.
Dislikes:
The first room No.2 with the very squeeky bed. I have back trouble and between the noise of the bed and the discomfort I would not have slept. However I was relocated immediately. Very good service.

We chose the hotel because they have an indoor pool and we enjoyed this very much especially after walking during the day.

Our apologies if the restaurant was chilly - beginning of autumn and first really cold evening - the restaurant staff failed to light the fire early enough to give it its usual cosy feel with an open fire in the centre of the room.
