The staff were all very friendly from the moment we arrived. The Oak room was very spacious and well decorated and the food was delicious (the sunday carvery was especially enjoyable).

Nice to be able to wander down to the restaurant for a drink or a meal, or a pleasant stroll into the village to patronise the local businesses.
Dislikes:
Next door's bathroom on the same wall as our bed, so some noise.

Only a couple of minutes from the A303 and just 5 minutes by car to the famous ornamental gardens and house at Stourhead, The Walnut Tree Inn makes an ideal stopping off place on journeys to and from the West country.
Just 15 minutes by car to the famous Longleat Safari Park and House, and the Centerparcs resort, we are open every day to welcome guests to this beautiful part of the south west whether living here, staying on holiday or just passing through for an hour or two.
The Walnut Tree also offers unrivalled comfort inside, first class facilities for al-fresco drinking and dining, excellent disabled access and services and a fantastic children's play park which is guaranteed to keep the youngsters happy!
Situated in the heart of Mere, which is nestled in the Wiltshire/Somerset borders and close to Dorset. Mere is ideally situated to visit a number of Outstanding Areas of Natural Beauty, as well as National Trust Gardens and Homes. Mere is on the Wiltshire Cycleway, maps of the route can be picked up from the local Tourist information Centres. Wiltshire boasts great on or off road cycling.
