"South Wales hotel, near the Head of the Valleys road."
This hotel is not a 5 star one but it offers good value for money with friendly staff and good wholesome food. I couldn't finish the enormous cooked breakfast! My room was perfectly adequate for a business traveller, quiet and with a good, apparently recently refurbished, bathroom (shower wet room, no bath, which was fine with me but might not suit a family with small children). There is a large car park and the hotel is in a country setting, in an area not known for having good hotels. Read less

"Pleasant country hotel"
The location and surroundings of the Ty Newydd are fantastic, and give it a real country retreat feel. We stayed overnight following a wedding party and the catering and decor for the party were superb. Our room was spotlessly clean and well furnished, however the decor was a little dark and dated, giving it a slightly depressing feel! The old fashioned furniture would have looked much nicer in a lighter, fresher room. Breakfast was faultless, and my vegetarian wife was well catered for. Read less
Likes:
The view from our room and the delicious breakfast
Dislikes:
Breakfast was served a little too early (8.00-9.30) for a weekend and checkout was also too early at 10.00 am. Drinks at the bar were also extremely pricey!!

What are your plans: a long stay to discover the beauty of the Brecon Beacons? A romantic weekend? A well-deserved break from the nine-to-five? A meeting or conference that needs to run like clockwork? Perhaps you are planning your wedding or fancy Christmas in the Brecon Beacons. We can promise you the warm welcome and service you would expect from a privately run hotel.

The Ty Newydd Country Hotel provides every modern convenience for today's discerning guest, whilst retaining the character and style of a fine Georgian country house. We have twenty eight beautifully appointed bedrooms to unwind in. Pamper yourself in a relaxing hot bath. Read the latest novel or magazine or simply put your feet up with a hot cup of tea in front of the television.

If you need to keep in touch with the office, or surf the web, we provide free broadband connection in every room. We have a fantastic restaurant, serving freshly prepared locally sourced food, log fires, a welcoming bar with three quarter height oak paneling, residents lounge with an open fireplace and adjoining library and lovely gardens with magnificent views of the Beacons and Neath Valley.

We are in an ideal location for activities such as walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Canal and riverside walks, site of historical interest, spectacular viewpoints, lakes and reservoirs and nature reserves are nearby. The grounds extend to over three acres, with magnificent views of the Beacons and Neath Valley and provide ample parking for coaches and larger functions.

But there's more to us than other hotels you may have visited. Stay with us and you'll feel as though you are staying with friends.
