2 Big rooms for my family stopover in Sussx - plenty of room and more then enough beds to chose from. Lovely comfortable mini suite with 4 poster - made to feel welcome by staff on arrival- although we arrived earlier than advertised check-in- after a call to the Crown we were allowed to deposit luggage and continue to enjoy our day. The staff were very knowledgeable about places to eat around town for dinner, and reccommended avariety of eateries. Read less
Likes:
Olde worlde charm about the place, four poster was a nice surprise, beer was very passable local brew, and the breakfast was a triumph.
Dislikes:
cold weather and wind are the enemies of this very historic property, and as such 1 of our 2 bedrooms was hard to heat and breakfast room was chilly in the morning.

parking a 10 minute walk away but taxi was only couple of pound
there was nothing we did not like but maybe not suitable for those who are looking for a tranquil cocktail and canape type hotel

We went to see the famous bonfire night celebrations which definitely lived up to our expectations. The hotel however was rather disappointing because it does need considerable refurbishment. In its day it would have been quite grand. However to bring these premises up to todays standards we do realise this would be an extremely costly exercise. Taking these points into consideration we consider that our room rate was far too high. Read less

The location is excellent.
Dislikes:
It needs money spent on it to bring it up to todays expected standards.
Response from The Crown Inn:
Hi thank you for your review. Our usuall costs for a room for two is £70.00. The freeholder of the crown are enterprise inns. Being the leaseholder its very difiicult to decide when and where to spend money. Enterprise are not doing very well and are in a lot of debt, so at the present no one knows what the furture holds. The crown is also grade listed, any improvements have to have planning permision. It was nice meeting you, and hope you enjoyed the bonefire celebrations.
