Nice to see the Isle of Wight, as I'd never been before. Strongly recommend the Purple Mango curry house in East Cowes and the Ship and Castle opposite has some great cask ales on.

Friendliness of the owner and cleanliness of the rooms.
Dislikes:
The shared facilities were not so clean and very cold as well as tiny. Almost impossible to have a shower in comfort and with only a sliding door I felt very insecure.
Response from The Caledon:
Each bedroom has its own basin and there are 3 bathrooms shared between 7 rooms with bathrobes provided to travel to and from bathrooms to help keep you warm and dry.
Additionally we have two rooms that share 1 very large bathroom between them and finally we do have ensuite rooms if guests would prefer to have their own facilities.
However we have had a thorough additional clean of the shared bathrooms as we believe that they we not up to our usual standards when Clare stayed with us.

I stayed at The Caledon while doing some maritime courses nearby. It was handy for the course centre and the town, and a welcoming spot to return to in the evening. Friendly welcome, comfy beds, very clean and superb breakfasts. Sitting room, some DVDs, and even a netbook available to guests to use on the free internet. I'll be back there if ever staying in Cowes. Read less

Getting back to somewhere comfy after a tiring day. There was an effort made in all aspects of service, such as Fair Trade tea/coffee in the room.
