Hosts were pleasant, but very unsure. Not quite the welcome we expected. Room was generally clean, although damp ceiling was obvious and the house had a 'old' smell about it. Much to our suprise the owners dog met us in the hallway, which didn't go down well with my son. Dog hairs in communal areas. Breakfast was adequate but we have had better, for less money. Possibly more suitable for a different generation (not being ageist here, just from what we saw and interactions we had). Read less

Readers should compare it to the other reviews we have had on this site, and Laterooms.com. Apology for the actions of my 10 months collie pup. This is an isolated incident as it is not allowed to “wander ”around the hotel. However we advertise that we accept small dogs.The “Old smell” is due to fresh flowers , specifically “Night Scented Stock” in the hallway. See our breakfast menu at alphablackpool.co.uk and see whether you regard it as “adequate” Visit Britain inspectors said “outstanding”

The Alpha is a lovely period home of Gail and Stephen Blackshaw, awarded 3 stars accreditation by Visit Britain offering affordable, comfortable accommodation with a traditional homely feel.
Your hosts offer a truly warm welcome at their guest house.
There is a bright, spacious lounge to enjoy and be served complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day.
The dining room is south facing and therefore light and sunny, and serves a great breakfast and home cooked 4 course evening dinners, a must for food lovers.
Our bedrooms are of generous proportion having benefited from a recent make over. A welcome tray awaits you consisting of complimentary tea and coffee, bottled water and biscuits. Each room has flat screen TV's with Freeview, a hair drier and a range of toiletries to use in our spacious en-suite shower rooms, in short we provide you with all the comfort of home
New for 2012 is a second floor suite of two rooms (7&9) that share a seperate toilet and seperate shower room. These rooms consist of a familly room with a double and single bed and a seperate double bedded room. This suite is suitable for a large family or a party of people.

There is an outside seating area where you can sit and relax in our well-stocked pretty garden.
The Alpha is situated in a quiet area on the North Shore just 50yards front The Queens Promenade and the Irish Sea. We offer free WiFi and have a free gated car park with enough spaces for every room.
We accept small dogs and cater for vegetarians and coeliac’s all by prior arrangement.
