The Talbot Hotel is located in Tregaron in the heart of Mid Wales. The Talbot is a 3 star old drovers’ inn dating back to the 13th century. Its oak beams, stone walls and open fires are strong reminders of long ago.

Likes:
The room and the bar with the chimney.
Dislikes:
The noise of a group of young people upstairs. The walls are not so good to avoid the noise.

The Talbot is situated on the square in Tregaron, Ceredigion – a small market town as famous for its warm Welsh welcome as it is for being the birthplace of Twm Sion Cati (the Welsh Robin Hood) and Henry Richard (one of the founding members of the United Nations).
Rooms are decorated and furnished sympathetically to ensure that their character is emphasised rather than lost. Some have wooden floors and stone walls while our ‘bridal suite’ boasts restored fireplace, 4 poster bed and a Jacuzzi. Most are en suite.
Just 18 miles from the coast, it is an ideal location for enjoying the beauty of the area, be it Cors Caron, Cardigan Bay or the Cambrian Mountains. Outdoor pursuits are the most popular attractions with birdwatching, walking, fishing, shooting, cycling and horseriding (nearby stabling arranged) well catered for. The Talbot is an ideal base for exploring the local area.
In Tregaron itself are Rhiannon’s Gold Centre, Cambrian Art Gallery, Red Kite Centre and Cors Caron and Britain’s largest rising peat bog. Five minutes up the road is Pentre Bach, where the childrens programme featuring Sali Mali and Jac y Jwc is filmed (and incidentally where both Graham and Shan were brought up!). Further afield are Strata Florida Abbey, Devil’s Bridge Falls and the historic towns of Aberystwyth and Aberaeron to the north and Lampeter and Carmarthen to the south.
