The view onto the village square from a front bedroom window, we had eaten there before but never stayed. There was a party on the Sunday and very busy all day but gave it a good atmosphere.

The Feathers is situated in the heart of the picturesque market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park. Overlooking the market square, the hotel occupies two distinct buildings parts of which date back to the fifteenth century.
The Feathers is a local landmark, providing nineteen bedrooms, three bars and the largest function venue in Helmsley (seating up to 200). Come and see why we remain one of Helmsley’s most popular venues.
The hotel has a range of rooms, Superior, Market Place, Standard and Economy. All rooms are ensuite with colour television and tea & coffee making facilities. Dogs are welcome. Rooms in the front of the hotel have excellent views over the market square and onto to Helmsley’s historic castle beyond.
Helmsley is an ancient and popular market town on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It has many attractions including Duncombe Park, Helmsley Castle and a small theatre. Full details of the attractions in the area are available from the town's Tourist Information Centre in the old town hall just opposite the hotel in the Market Place.
The walled gardens, which once provided the Castle and then Duncombe Park with produce, are now a popular visitor attraction.
Helmsley lies on the side of the River Rye and its banks make a popular picnic destination. An attractive small tributary runs behind the market square and is equally popular with the Ducks. Further down the River Rye about five miles away is another stately home Nunnington Hall, a Jacobean manor now cared for by the National Trust and a little further on is Ryedale's greatest stately home Castle Howard a Vanburgh master-piece and one of the greatest houses in the country.
