Our rooom No 6 at the rear of the hotel was quiet and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. We attended a wake and the sandwiches and buffet provided was excellent in quality and value. We ate dinner in the restaurant it was priced on the high side but was very goodexcellent but if staying for a few nights you can find other options in Congresbury. The staff were friendly and its nice to see real efforts being made to update and upgrade a historic building. Read less

The pub was easy to find. The staff gave us a friendly welcome even though they were rushed off their feet serving drinkers/diners. Obviously a popular place to eat! Our room was large, clean and had everything we needed. It's an old building so had sloping floors and eccentric plumbing...charming! Despite overlooking a main road our room was fairly quiet and the bed was very comfortable so we both got a good night's sleep. Rounded off our stay with a hearty locally-sourced cooked breakfast. Likes:
Very interesting menu, all food very good quality and locally sourced. And an exceptionally comfortable bed.
Dislikes:
Typical for a modern gastro-pub - no 'real ales'
Response from The Ship & Castle:
Dear Mr Lunn,
Thank you for your responce. I am sorry that you weren't offered any of our real ales and you left with out trying them. We hace Greeneking IPA, Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen. If you are ever in the area please call in and have one on us!
Best wishes
