Morecambe is famous for its stunning views and sunsets, which can be enjoyed from the guest lounge or by strolling the short distance to the promenade. And you won’t be short of things to do, both in the Guest House and around this up-and-coming town.
Come and see Morecambe’s historic buildings, such as the newly restored art deco Midland Hotel and the Victorian Winter Gardens preservation project. Experience the blend of old and new, where reminders of the heyday of British seaside holidays remain alongside newly created golden beaches, sea bird sculptures, a Lake District Mountain Panorama, and stylishly paved promenade. Of course a day out in Morecambe is not complete without having your picture taken at the statue of Eric Morecambe, much loved half of the famous comedy double act Morecambe & Wise.
Within easy reach of the town is the delightful village of Heysham, as well as Heysham ferry port with daily departures to Isle of Man and Ireland. Or why not visit nearby historic Lancaster for some sight seeing or shopping? Or you can join a tour of its ancient castle, which has fascinating history and is still a working court and prison to this day.
Nearby Carnforth has its delightfully nostalgic railway station which is the location for the cult film ‘Brief Encounter’. You can still catch a steam train here or visit the famous refreshment room with award winning Visitor Centre.
If you love wildlife, then pay a visit to RSPB Leighton Moss Bird Reserve – the largest reed bed in north-west England and home to some really special birds such as breeding bitterns, bearded tits and marsh harriers. It’s also a great place to see butterflies and it’s not uncommon to spot deer here too!
Morecambe is uniquely situated at the gateway to some of the most beautiful areas of north-west England: Morecambe Bay, Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Lake District National Park and the Forest of Bowland.
