Stayed during w'knd with heavy snow; however, family were very welcoming. Kindly offered to take me back to hotel from friend's flat in Crookes in 4x4 before roads became unpassable; they kindly returned me following morning. Homely feel: catered for dietary requirements (veggie with no eggs) without fuss; room v well kitted-out: modern TV, dab radio, Body Shop toiletries, power shower, wall heater for when main radiator's off at night and very plush towels! Happy memories: would happily return! Read less

Response from Royal Hotel:
roni so glad you enjoyed your stay. We try to cater for all dietary needs where we can, it is just a matter of letting us know what the diet is in advance so that we can get the items in. Taxi service is just another role we provide especially with us being in the back of beyond. Be prepared is our motto.

Come and relax in the comfortable surroundings, have a quality drink with friends and enjoy the quality home made food, which is cooked by David and Joanne. Try one of Dave’s Royal pies, known the world over.

The Royal Hotel was built around 1813 and retains much of its original character. Split into 3 areas, all with open fires. There is the snug which over looks the beautiful countryside and has a view over Sheffield; on a good day you can see far and beyond. The lounge at the front of the pub is spacious. The family room also at the front of the pub is a separate room, ideal for families, especially smaller children as there is a child’s gate at the entrance, which can be closed to keep the little ones safe. Toys and games are also provided.

There are 3 comfortable en-suite bedrooms. One Double and two Twin rooms.
Each room is located at the rear of the property, in their own annex over looking the wonderful countryside. All ground floor.

There are plenty of attractions locally: bird watching; walking, from novice to experienced hikers/ramblers; fishing, from fly fishing at Ladybower Reservoir a 15 minute drive away and course fishing at Dam Flask on the doorstep. Also close by are clay pigeon shooting, golfing and horse riding (all by arrangement). If you are more into relaxing with a drink, then come along and just enjoy the views. During the summer there is the local cricket team at Low Bradfield or visit the historic Bradfield Church at High Bradfield.
