The Richmond

Travelling to the Isle of Wight could not be easier. There are three car ferry crossing points and two catamaran foot passenger ferries, all easily accessible by fast rail and main roads. For foot passengers, you can purchase a through train ticket to Shanklin from home, which includes the catamaran cost. For car drivers, we can book your car ferries for you.

We are ideally situated, being just 1 minute from the Town Centre, 2 minutes from the Cliff Walk with its magnificent views across the Bay and lift to the Beach and within easy reach of Shanklin Theatre, Old Village and Chine. Whether you are walking, driving, cycling or using the bus, we are a perfect base for exploring the many delights that the Island has to offer.

The Hotel is a Victorian building, approximately 150 years old, with an extension at the rear that was built in the 1960's. We are a small private hotel with 9 rooms, but we believe we offer a level of comfort that you would normally expect from a larger hotel. Our evening menus are varied daily and we cater for all tastes and diets. As for breakfast - our aim is to see that you start the day properly! Importantly though, you will receive a level of personal care and attention that you only get from a family run hotel. This becomes apparent when you first enter the hotel and feel the atmosphere of a home, because that is what it is - our home and you are our guests.
