As soon as we saw the outside we knew it was not going to be what we expected for the money we paid. Our room was extremely small and very overpriced for £120 a night. The valance hadn't been ironed and there were dead flies in the bath. However the food was excellent and the full English breakfast enormous. We had asked for a room at the back because of the possible traffic noise but saw one of the rooms at the front and it looked twice the size of ours and cost the same. Read less

The Red House is an AA 3 star property consisting of 8 comfortable, newly renovated and individual bedrooms. All of our rooms are ensuite, with mini bar facilities, TV and DVD player. The rooms are individually named after their unique head-boards.
Renowned for using locally sourced produce, the Red House a la carte menu changes seasonally, with an emphasis on local produce. Our Sunday roasts are supplied by Mr Bailey, the local butcher, our meats are sourced from local Leicester farms where possible, whilst our cheeses are supplied by Long Clawson Dairy.
Diners have a choice of formal dining in the 70 cover restaurant or more informal dining in the lounge and the bar or on more clement days in the courtyard. Bookings are advised as evenings and weekends are very busy.
The venue is further enhanced by a beautiful marquee, which seats up to 120 guests and is ideal for special events such as wedding receptions and birthday parties.
The venue is close to excellent Golf Clubs, Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, Ragdale Hall, Crazy Go Karting, Leicester Space Centre, Belvoir Castle and excellent shopping and theatre events at both Leicester and Nottingham. It is also an excellent place for a business meeting in it’s conference room, or for an overnight stay to avoid the bustle of city life, or to ensure a weekend away is special.
Teak decking and slate finished flower beds set the scene for the courtyard to the rear of the Red House. Again, designed and built to create a relaxing and enjoyable area to eat and drink, lunch or dinner. Chunky pub benches are available for families and groups, or enjoy a bite to eat on the tables around the outside bar and grill.
The bar and grill, set in the old stables in the outside garden offers the same quality and choice as the main restaurant. You can see (and smell!) the menu selection in the open plan kitchen, and as with all menus younger ones are catered for. Whilst still using excellent local produce a more rustic,
