Ravenshill was built in 1874 as the home of the Factor of the Estate of Lockerbie. There is a large garden with lawns, mature trees and a private car park. It has been converted to a hotel retaining many of the traditional features but with all modern comforts.

We have eight individual bedrooms all of which have double or twin beds, most with views of our garden and the surrounding countryside, two of the larger rooms also have double bed settees for children so we can accommodate families together. And one large double room has a four-poster bed.

All bedrooms have digital television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers and private facilities. We also have free wireless internet in our lounge bar.

Our honeymoon suite has a four-poster bed for that special romantic weekend away. Like all our rooms, it also has a digital freeview television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdrier and private facilities.

We have a nature reserve nearby with woodland walks of various lengths for those who like to streach their legs after a long car journey.

For visitors staying a few days there is a great variety of things to see and do in Dumfries and Galloway. The area is ideal with many quiet country routes to explore. It has some of Scotlands best natural scenery and is famous for its lovely historic old houses and wonderful gardens. It is also one of the mildest parts of Scotland.

For children there is quadbike riding nearby and Dalton Pottery where they can create their own masterpieces and Drumlanrig Castle with interesting things to see and do for all ages. Glasgow and Edinburgh are only one and a half hours by car or train, and we are equally convenient for visiting the Borders District or for day trips over the border to visit Carlisle, Hadrians Wall and the Lake District.

For the golfers there are a number of courses with a choice of parkland and links within a 15 mile radius. We also welcome fishermen, walkers, cyclists and bikers to the hotel.
