Likes:
Wood burning fires around the hotel and a bar that stocked slimline tonic! Superb location - Much Wenlock is a wonderful village with lots to do and the Raven is central with adequate parking!
Dislikes:
Temperature of the room - it was a little cold, usually hotels are too hot, but as there was unexpected snow outside the room was slightly chilly!

The Raven will whisk you back to the seventeenth century. In this lovely coaching inn you're in the very heart of Shropshire's ruined-but-unwrecked countryside, with many a fragment of ancient masonry to trip over. Wenlock Edge is nearby.

The food, as always in Shropshire, is rather special. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the welcome, warm. The village has historical connections with the Olympic Games. For a small town, Much Wenlock offers an awful lot to do. Indeed, many guests taking a weekend break leave their car keys in the bedroom and spend all of their time here. There is an easy paced walk for those who simply want to soak in the atmosphere. For those who prefer more detailed history, Much Wenlock can trace its ancestry to Roman times and has the famous Wenlock Priory dating from the 12th and 13th centuries.

There’s the picture perfect Old Hall, amazingly built in just two days in 1577, and the equally impressive Reynard Mansion built in 1682, as well as the much more humble but evocative Squatters’ Cottage, not to mention the cobbled “shuts”, ancient thoroughfares that used to link various hostelries. Nowadays, Much Wenlock is home to high quality independent dress shops, artists, galleries and antique shops as well as award winning butchers, bakers, country grocers and farmers’ markets that combine to provide a wonderfully relaxed and inspirational shopping experience.

We have a brigade of chefs who enthuse about sourcing the very best fresh produce from the abundance of award-winning food producers in the county and who create innovative dishes that feed both body and mind. Each of our 20 bedrooms are individually designed to make the most of the abundance of architectural features created by a building which has slowly evolved over hundreds of years.
