Response from Portquin Guest House:
We are happy to accommodate pets, by prior arrangement. We would also like to remind other guests that pets are only welcome in certain rooms, not upstairs or in our public rooms. Please don't worry if you have any allergies.

Portquin Guest House in Swindon is a large, extended family home with wonderful views over the Wiltshire countryside. Karen and Ian Jankinson offer a warm welcome to their well-travelled guests, whether on business or family breaks and holidays. There is a selection of spacious single, double, twin and family rooms, all comfortably furnished with central heating, colour T.V. and tea/coffee making facilities. All rooms are en suite.

Our tariff includes cooked full English breakfast, which is served in our friendly 'farmhouse' kitchen. Families are very welcome. Portquin Guest House is ideally situated in a village setting to the north of Swindon. The M4, Intercity railway station and major link road to M5 are close at hand. Surrounded by some of the finest countryside in England, you are within easy reach of Cirencester, Oxford, Bath and Salisbury, each with their historic attractions and established shopping areas. For your convenience there is ample parking and spacious patio and garden areas.

The grounds are 3 ½ acres in total, and you can wander around it at your leisure. The original cottage was built on the plot in 1835 and it has variously been a piggery, a smallholding and a market garden. It was extended as it is today in the late 70s. It's original owner then used the massive kitchen/dining/lounge for musical 'soirees' - her son was an excellent pianist. You will find horses, sheep and fish among the other residents of the place. There are patios where you can sit peacefully and drink in the views. You can listen to the screech of the buzzards lazily circling overhead and watch the deer in the early morning wandering across the fields. You can pick apples to your hearts content in the autumn.
