Dislikes:
The only minus was that the landing carpets were threadbare but we didn't mind that.
Response from Orchards Retreat:
Yes, the landing carpet is rather ancient but probably could tell lots of stories! So glad you came and had a happy weekend. Thank you.

We have several rooms available for Bed and Breakfast all with delightful views over the gardens, as well as a cosy self-catering Cottage.
The rooms are comfortable, spacious and full of character. All rooms have their own wash basins; one has it's own bathroom and the remaining rooms have use of a shared bathroom with shower.

Generous full English breakfasts are served using food that is sourced (where possible) locally, organically and fairly traded. You can meet the hens that lay our eggs in their part of the garden.

Guest are welcome to make use of the baby grand piano in the dawing room; snooker and table tennis are available in the Outhouses. During the summer badminton is also available.

The gardens are stocked with unusual bulbs, shrubs and trees and the garden is beautiful in each of the different seasons. There are well planted borders and spacious lawns, and an established area of vegetables and fruit trees,as well as a wilder area.
Many birds and insects are attracted by the diversity of plants and trees and the sense of peace is tangible.

There are many places to walk or cycle. One of our favourites is to cycle down to the ferry that takes you across the River Yare to the Archers - a family friendly inn - for refreshments. A 10 mile round trip for a delightful afternoon.

We are just 12 miles from the historic city of Norwich with its Cathedral, Castle, market and medieval churches.
The Norfolk Broads.. boats can be hired from a number of places including: Loddon (3 miles), Beccles (5 miles), to cruise or row away an afternoon on the water.
Dunwich about 40 mins away has the best Fish and Chips for miles. Originally a thriving medieval harbour, it has now lost much of the town to the sea and the museum is full of it's colourful history. It also has plenty of birdlife.
Lowestoft about 20 minutes away has sandy beaches ideal for children.
Pleasurewood Hills theme park is also about 20 mins drive and also ideal for a family day out.
