The Old Red Lion Inn

There are 12 comfortably furnished, en-suite bedrooms, including ground floor rooms some with disabled facilities. They are all situated in attractive buildings around the main building and restaurant, allowing for a more tranquil stay. We have wireless broadband and satellite channels in all the letting rooms that are included in the price. We are having a refurbishment of all rooms starting end of January 2011. We are carrying this out in blocks of 4 rooms at a time and this should not disturb any guests who are staying with us. All work is to be completed by June 2011. We take bookings for Sunday evenings however, we do close from 5pm and no food will be available and the bar will be closed also.

The bar area has comfort seating and with the log burner offers a nice atmosphere especially during the winter months. We have a good selection of wines, spirits & cask conditioned beers to choose from, and a regularly revised bar menu is also available..

Our restaurant comfortably seats 55 people and has a combination of both a wooden floor & Yorkshire stone floor covering. The log burner gives a warm and comfortable feel during the winter months. Our Sunday Carvery (during winter months) is always very popular and a reservation is essential.

Horseheath is close to the historic market town of Saffron Walden. Audley End House and linton Zoo are also nearby. The university town of Cambridge is a 20 minute drive to the north. To the east lie the pretty Suffolk villages of Clare and Long Melford. Bury St Edmonds, with it's beautiful abbey ruins and gardens, is a short drive away. We are also a 20 minutes drive from Newmarket the capital of Horse Racing in the UK. Tattersals Horse sales is also an attraction throughout the year with Sales Dates available from Tattersals direct.
