We were welcomed by the owners as if we were expected friends. They welcomed us with warm smile and explained everything in details which a lot of places don't do other than showing you your room. We were only there for one night and felt very comfortable in our small but beautifully decorated quiet room. Read less

We immediately felt at home and were treated like old friends. Our hosts offered to book evening meals for us and suggested places to visit but without imposing their ideas in the slightest.

The Old Rectory is set in a peaceful location close to the banks of the river Arrow on the Black and White Village trail.
This 1852 Victorian Gothic building has recently been lovingly refurbished to a high quality standard by the present owners, offering luxury accommodation. Lynn and Philip Pickard provide a warm welcome to all arriving guests. The bedrooms offer antique furniture and quality soft furnishings along with a range of thoughtful extras, whilst the en-suite bathrooms are luxurious and spacious. Public areas include a comfortable roomy lounge with an open log fire and an elegant dining room, where a quality breakfast is served around the communal dining table.
Some highlights of Herefordshire include the Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Beer on the Wye VI. Follow the Black & White Trail or the Cider Route. Visit historic houses, local museums, castle ruins - an evocative reminder of early border strife - or gardens ranging from the delights of the traditional cottage garden to formal gardens with statuary and flowing water in a country house setting.
Herefordshire offers the visitor 'retail therapy' in a relaxed, mainly traffic free environment. You'll find many independent smaller shops, which retain the old character of the market towns as well as High Street stores in Hereford. Best of all is the range of fresh local food & drink from Herefordshire producers.
Herefordshire is a haven for artists and craftmakers - textiles, ceramics, silver, wood - colours, textures and shapes of the future from makers of quality. Come to h.art week in September, when artists open studios, workshops and homes to the public or to the Contemporary Craft Fair in November.
