Newstead 5* B&B is a beautifuly unique, traditionally styled Victorian Villa located in its own grounds between the villages of Windermere and Bowness in the heart of the Lake District. Built in 1897 of traditional Lakeland stone the house retains many original features including its fireplaces, woodwork and its serving bells. The house has been sympathetically and richly decorated in Arts and Crafts, Gothic and Art Noveau styles. Affordable 5* accomodation. Children over 7yrs accepted only.

We visited the Lake District for a short break to recharge the batteries and chose to stay at the Newstead. The guest house is very clean and well presented, in keeping with it's 5* status. The room was a good size with all mod cons and furnished with a reasonably comfortable bed. We where served a real hearty breakfast and where asked on several occasions if we required more toast, coffee etc by our attentive host. The stay was really peaceful and enjoyable and more than met our expectations. Read less

I like the Newsteads attention to detail. The guest house has been decorated and furnished in an Art Nouveau style, to a very high standard which provides a unique experience for visitors.
Dislikes:
If I was to level any criticism, it would be the lack of heating provided throughout the building at certain times of the day. We found the our room and the guest living room to be cold at times.

Thank you for your rating. The heating is thermostically controlled and adjusts itself throughout the day as one would normally expect.
In addition for the extra comfort of our guests each guest room is provided with a 2Kw heater for personal use and on the colder mornings a cheerful fire is lit in the dining room for breakfast.
