We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The room was lovely, warm and comfortable with spectacular views from the window. Good selection of hot drinks in your room and the homemade biscuits were lovely. Breakfast in the morning was in a lovely dining room with birds feeding on the feeder outside the window. Large selection of cereals and fruit and yoghurts, the cooked breakfast is a feast not to be missed. We will be going back. a Read less

Small bath and shower output not brillant .(Understand from Carol that this is being rectified and upgraded to an excellent standard).

Set in the middle of quiet countryside, Newlands Hall offer Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast with easy access to Durham City. We have a 4 star grading from 'Enjoy England' so you are guaranteed a comfortable stay.
The Farmhouse is up a long drive well away from the road, and enjoys some of the most magnificent and unspoilt views that Weardale can offer. Rich in wild life the farm is at the centre of a network of local footpaths.
The area has much to offer the visitor, raging from the high wild fells of Weardale and Teesdale, to pretty villages, market towns and the beautiful University City of Durham, with its Cathedral, Castle and Medieval streets.
A visit to the Dale would not be complete without a visit to Killhope Wheel and Lead Mining Centre, to sample the harsh reality of life in a 19-century mine, and follow the nature trail and see the Red Squirrels.
Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum, Beamish Open Air Museum, Raby Castle, Hartlepool, Hexham, Hadrian's Wall, Diggerland, and the Metro Centre are all a short drive away.
The bedrooms are south facing with some stunning views of Weardale and the Elephant trees. Each room has a colour television, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, radio alarm, central heating and mini fridge.
Wakeup to the aroma of homebaked bread. Breakfast is served in the Dining room overlooking the larged walled garden. Watch the bird feeding and enjoy the award winning ' Great Weardale Breakfast' cooked in the aga using local produce and our own free range eggs.
Newlands Hall has 4 refurbished traditional stone stables. Ample parking for horse boxes and trailers, secure storage for tack,
Lockable cycle store, laundry room and a toilet with shower room are also available.
