The breakfeast is fabulous, the host cook vey wel.
Near hostel there is a lovely landscapes for walk and sea the river and the mountains. Read less

The Moorfield House Hotel was part of our first visit to Scotland. The previous night we had stayed and played golf at Gleneagles. Now we were visiting another area with the intention of playing more golf. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas as it rained almost non-stop for 3 days. The owners were very sociable and helpful in assisting us on our first visit to the area. Always on hand to loan us a map, explain about the area and provide guidance on places to visit. Read less

The friendliness of everyone we met while at the Moorfield House. Although the Hotel was by no means full during our time there there seemed to be a constant stream of locals visiting for a drink.
Dislikes:
Can;t think of anything that we didn't like (except the rain!)

We had breakfast in that gorgeous space which is the restaurant, overlooking the mountains and full of light from the huge windows, a perfect start of the day!
Dislikes:
We just thought that the breakfast buffet could have been much richer in choice and that, while coffee, toast, butter and jam were delicious, the fruit generally was not fresh nor tasty.

We are sorry you did not enjoy the breakfast,normally we do have a better selection of fruit, however at the moment the local shop is being refurbished and stocks are limited / non existant.Also at this (cold) time of year most folk go for the hot breakfast option and consequently there is less of a turnover.

Recently refurbished to a high standard the hotel offers a warm and friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation, a first –class dining experience and is the ideal base for outdoor activities all year round.
There is ample parking in out private car park for cars, Mini Buses and motor cycles, and we have ample drying facilities for wet clothing and storage for bikes.
Our fully licensed restaurant (open to the public) , why not discover why we have a growing reputation for the quality and exceptional value of our freshly cooked and locally sourced menu .
We have completely refurbished all of our bedrooms which have modern en –suite facilities . The rooms are beautifully furnished and the front bedrooms have open views over the games park to the Cairngorm Mountains.
In Scotland, the bar is often at the heart of the community. So it is at the Moorfield House Hotel. Whether you are just dropping in for a quiet drink after an energetic day walking in the hills, or relaxing before dinner in our restaurant. The mixture of locals and tourists always makes for an enjoyable evening. The hospitality of the highlands is world renowned, so no-one remains a stranger for long. We specialise in selling local REAL ALE and MALT WHISKY.
At the Moorfield we have a simple philosophy –offer exceptional food at reasonable prices in a relaxed and informal restaurant which is also open to the public. (booking recommended)
Environmental Statement
We are located in a national park and are working towards the Green Tourism award. We encourage re cycling and would ask guests to re-cycle as much as possible and minimise engergy use.Where posible (and nin season) grow our own herbs, salad crops and vegetables for use in the dining room and compost as much of our waste as possible.
In addition we try to purchase as much of our other produce locally thus reducing our carbon footprint. We also purchase locally if possible and use a Low Co2 Electricity provider.
