Marton Grange, is believed to have been built in the early part of the 19th century and was linked to the local Sewerby Estate. The house has been carefully and tenderly renovated to exacting standards to make it both a stylish, comfortable destination, but more importantly, a home from home. We have created a warm, friendly atmosphere and estimate that over half of our guests have already stayed with us at least once before. Their comments in the guest book are testimony to the service and comfort provided at Marton Grange. We are proud to hold a 5 star rating from the AA and attained the Le Routiers Bed & Breakfast of the North award in 2005. The Guardian newspaper has described Marton Grange as “an oasis in a desert“.

Marton Grange has eleven bedrooms, all of which have en-suite facilities with showers. There are three ground floor rooms and a lift provides easy access to the remaining rooms on the first floor. The rooms are graded as either Premier Rooms or Classic Rooms. The Premier Rooms consist of two twin rooms and five double rooms (four of which have king-size beds). These are located in the original part of the house and are usually larger rooms furnished to a high specification. We have four Classic Rooms (two twin and two double rooms) located in the newer part of the house. Guests who wish to bring their dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. The ground floor Premier twin room is suitable for persons with limited mobility who can still walk but need grab rails in the bathroom. Guests are greeted with a tray of tea or coffee and homemade cakes and are welcome to relax in the comfort of our Lounge, Garden Room or Conservatory. A selection of books, magazines and games are available for your enjoyment.

With nearly two acres of garden and paddock to walk or sit in and a lovely pond to relax by, the grounds are a haven for wildlife. We have observed over 40 species of birds and mammals.

There is a private car park not visible from the road.
Environmental Statement
We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint by adopting a policy of recycling, optimising energy use and reducing waste. We recycle newspapers, metal cans and glass and plastic bottles and waste bread is fed to our chickens. We buy food from local sources to limit the road miles they are transported. We encourage guests to reuse towels to reduce energy use and to decrease the quantity of detergents entering the sewers. We ask guests to avoid running water unnecessarily to help conserve it. We use refillable pump bottles of top quality toiletries to reduce the use of plastics (made from crude oil) and to limit the non-biodegradable waste we produce. We have installed energy saving bulbs in all appropriate light fittings and ask guests to turn off electrical appliances when not in use. The radiators in bedrooms have independent thermostatic controls for comfort and energy conservation.
