It is also included in “Britain’s Best Bed & Breakfast, the AA’s guide to the top 10% Bed & Breakfast establishments in Britain
Quietly located in an estate village, Ivy Cottage provides a restful base to explore the wild and unspoilt beauty of North Northumberland. At just 5 miles from the Scottish border the historic border area is within easy travelling distance. Flooden Field, a must for historians, is within walking distance, and Coldstream, the home of the Coldstream Guards is just 5 miles away. Holy Island, the seat of Christianity in this country, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens will be on most visitors' lists to visit, and can easily be reached from Ivy Cottage. Should you prefer walking you will find the Cheviot Hills, Ingram and College Valley, providing some of the finest walking nearby.
There is a well furnished sitting room for guest use, where, in winter a log burning stove makes the room cosy and welcoming. Guests may take complimentary tea here on arrival, or in summer the summerhouse or garden will no doubt attract.
