We stayed overnight on a saturday. Checkin was quick. We stayed in room 4 which has a spa bath. The room itself is a decent size. The double bed is big and spacious with a comfy materess and pillows. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers. There was tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on a tray under the flat screen telly. The bathroom was a bit cramped with the bath underneath a sloped roof. The bath itself was a spa type with a button for bubbles. Read less

The staff in the bar were friendly. We spent a nice evening in there were we enjoyed food and drink. The steak and ale pie from the specials board was particularly tasty.
Dislikes:
The bath didn't have a shower attachment. Not a major problem but i personaly prefer a shower than a bath.

Situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park just off the A624 road between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith, this delightful Inn has all the modern amenities but still retains its old worldly charm of a building built, circ. 1575. The hotel offers a personal friendly service in a small village in idyllic location.
This is an ideal base for walkers and mountain bikers (secured storage available) with the highest point in the Peak District, Kinder Scout, the main challenge for the serious hikers and bikers. A trek to Edale over Jacob’s Ladder is popular, whilst the Sett Valley Trail and Lantern Pike offering a more gentle route, with good view over Manchester. Within easy reach of the historic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, watch the deer roam in Lyme Park, see the otters and owls in the Chestnut Centre, go under ground at the Blue John Mine and Speedwell Cavern at Castleton and visit Ladybower Reservoir in Derwent Valley, scene of the training for the RAF Dambusters. With all the amenities that the Spa town of Buxton has to offer and within easy reach of the cities of Manchester and Sheffield, there is always plenty to occupy your time.
The Hotel has 6 rooms in total, 3 double rooms, one hosting a ‘4 poster bed’, and 3 twin rooms. All rooms are en suite, have digital TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A substantial full English breakfast is available whilst all dietary requests are accommodated whenever possible. If you require a packed lunch for your onward journey we are happy to supply one freshly prepared whilst you have breakfast.
A full lunch and evening menu is also available until 9pm during the week, whilst offering food all day Saturday until 9pm and 8pm on Sunday. After dinner our licensed bar is a friendly local featuring a marvellous old fireplace and stove. The bar offers a wide selection of drinks including cask marque accredited real ales from three hand pumps including guest ales from all over the country.
