The breakfast was amazing, everything was fresh and delicious.
Dislikes:
We had room 4 and it was rather noisy until the restaurant has closed below and the guest have left which was at around 1.00 am if not later
Response from George Inn:
I can only apologise for the noise on saturday evening, we did have the local cricket club christmas party in and we understand they were a noisy bunch!! As the building is 16th century we are limited to how we can sound proof! Many Thanks for your comments. Bonnie Steel

Likes:
We liked the fact that Dinner could be included and booked before our arrival. The main restaurant area is very stylish with leather seating and lighting creating a good atmosphere. Food excellant!!
Dislikes:
We felt that as paying overnight guests we would have been seated in the main area and felt pushed out to local customers at back on uncomfortable seats.
Bathroom has v. hot towel rail - not safe.
Response from George Inn:
Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are sorry that you felt you had been pushed out to local guests this is never the case. We always do our best to sit residents in the main dinning room but i know this particular saturday evening we had a lot of big parties in and needed the space of the main room. The seating area opposite the bar offers a real atmosphere as you can feel the real bustle of the restaurant but we do understand this is not everybody's choice.

A warm welcome awaits you in this 16th century restaurant with rooms. The George is situated on the edge of the village green in Cavendish, positioned in between the popular villages of Clare and Long Melford and just a short drive from the timeless village of Lavenham.
Since October 2010, co-owners Lewis Bennet & Bonnie Steel have acheived their 1st Rosette and four stars from the AA & Visit Britain tourist guides.
The Emphasis at The George is on quality of food and customer service. The menus offer a wide range of dishes to suit all tastes and budgets. The menus change frequently and are guided by the seasons. We aim to use the highest quality, sustainably sourced ingredients and utilise our garden to grow seasonal items such as baby leaf, beetroot, edible flowers, tomatoes and herbs to use on the menu.
We have five contempary rooms available for bed and breakfast, priced from £50.00 single occupancy, £75.00 double occupancy and £125.00 for dinner, bed and breakfast (available Monday - Saturday). The Restaurant is Closed on Sunday Evenings.
We also have a family room, extra bed and cot facilities and we can also make one of our rooms in to twin beds.
The rooms are situated just above the restaurant itself, so you are only a short flight of stairs from a chilled glass of wine or a pint of ale from Nethergate, our local brewery, just a few miles away. All five bedrooms have a unique sense of charm, with exposed beams, sash windows and views of the village green and church.
Our bedrooms offer crisp white linen, flat screen televisions, wifi internet access, complimentary tea and coffee facilities and homemade cookies.
Environmental Statement
We hope all our guests will be understanding of the environment and only place towels in the bath if they need to be changed and conserve energy where possible and turn off all lights and televisions when not in use.
